Throughout the week, Merloc receives questions from various places and answers as many as he can. He wanted to start sharing some of his answers with everyone else so that he wouldn't have to repeat himself.

Here's the second edition of Q & A from Merloc's Tower.

Q: What would be the chances of increasing the cap on backstab damage? Honestly as it is now, max backstab damage (125) works out to about 20 dps. There is almost no reason to try to cap it, except to say that you can. 250 would be a reasonable cap, and make backstab damage actually worth something.

A: We'll look into removing the hard caps on damage skill mods, if there are no issues with balance, I'd like to see them removed as well.

Q: As an end game raider, I'm currently in a top 10 guild, I'm a little concerned about the lack of bene spell haste items available to me as a mage at this level; largely because it has a LARGE impact on the effectiveness of my pet heals.

A: I've increased the number of focus effects on Solteris items, and added in beneficial haste on an item for mages.

Q: Death Power Source has great disadvantages for players that use it, and next to no benefits. The proc it adds is not desirable either.

A: I am currently working on retuning all the power sources to make them more desirable. Death is going to be changed quite a bit to be more useful. At least one of the power sources will be designed for aggro generation.

Q: I wanted to give you some feedback about 2 TBS Solteris items as I think they maybe need some tweaking love... Fjorlask, War Maul of Shadows and Rod of Shaded Wraith.

A: Retuning Solteris weapons, especially the 2H weapons is high on my list of things to do... I'm not really happy with the current role of 2H weapons in the game, and I'm looking for a way to make them more desirable, and give them a distinct place in the game (similar to how 1h + shield is best for defense, and dual 1h is the best for DPS)... one of the ideas is to make 2H weapons the best for aggro.

Q: Bows have had the Sharpshooting Foci on them for quite some time now, and I feel that the above mentioned Transient Bow of Solar Winds should deserve a foci of Sharpshooting VII to keep it on par with the difficulty of obtaining it. As such, guilds who have beaten this are reluctant to loot this as many consider it worse then Vae`Aender, Stitch's Bow, which drops from a far easier event. If you could also please look into adding some mod2's, (such as avoidance or strikethrough) adjusting the damage ratio to be a bit higher, or both, I think this would make this bow what it should be - the best bow available for raiders.

A: I just went through and boosted stats and mods on most Solteris items, including the Transient Bow of Solar Winds. I won't be adding sharpshooting to the bow, or any other bow in the future. Including a mod for bow damage on every bow negates the purpose of having a separate focus... You can find sharpshooting on other items that will boost up your bow damage when you acquire them.

Q: You said the Steeloak Mantle would get all melee Modifiers that are on the similar Items like the Mantle, yet it has 0 Modifiers. Could you please look into this and at least give some Feedback?

A: That item is missing modifiers, along with a few other items. I'll add modifiers to them... the changes probably won't make the next patch, but should go out with the following patch. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Q: I think there might be something wrong with the drop rate on Brightflame, Pride of the Lightbringer from Sothgar. My guild has killed sothgar at least 18 times, and we have only seen this item 1 time in all those kills. Based on posts from the cleric class boards several other guilds seem to be having very poor drop rates too.

A: I've checked this item, it has the same drop rate as other class items 16%, and it is only on one of the loot tables, so it drops less than some of the other items that can drop in either loot spot for Sothgar.

Q: I asked a while back about Bloodstained Ak-Daal Blade and you said something will be done, was curious if I could get an overview of what the sword will look like once done?

A: I believe that I made some changes to the mods on the sword, and I increased the AC to 90. I'm also planning to increase the damage when I retune Solteris weapons.

Q: I saw a new aug on lucy today: Black Undead Shissar Scale (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=80261).

With 15 AC/100 HP it is a VERY decent aug even in comparison to going raid augs (like maybe the Magma Lacquer in AG). Nonetheless it is recommended level 70 and ONLY slot 7. Is this really intended? Any chance You could add slot 8 on this one?

A: I originally set most of the high end augments in TBS to fit in slot 7 and 8, but they were mistakenly reset to slot 7 only. I've set them to fit back in slot 7 and 8 again.

Q: Would it be possible to have Ton Po's Mystical Pouch from Rallos Zek in Plane of Time to summon 100 shurikens each click? I'm sure everyone is fine with the 4 second cast time but with items such as Dusty Worker's Soriz Pouch and Tolan's Darkwood Bracer each summoning 100 and those being low level arrow / shurikens.

A: I will increase the summon amount on Ton Po's Mystical Pouch and the Dusty Worker's Soriz Pouch to 100 up from 20.

Q: Is it possible to have a pet illusion stick through zoning?

A: Currently there isn't a way to have pet illusions remain after zoning.

Q: Are you still planning to change the Night / Day charms in Solteris?

A: They should be changed in the next patch to return 100% for 12 of the hours, 75% for 6 of the hours, and 50% for the last 6 hours.

Q: If you review TBS raid gear, beastlords have no Cleave VII available to them on any item, and if you look at TSS content, it's only on two items. The same goes for Ferocity VII, with nothing on TBS content and only two items in TSS.

A: I've made a lot of changes to TBS raid gear, and added Cleave VII and Ferocity VII to the beastlord armor in Solteris.

Q: Yesterday we had Tainted Moonstone Shard drop on Solteris 4 -event (really tough event, I might say), a 25 AC 120HP/Mana/end augment. Now compare this to Magma Lacquer (20 AC 140HP 120Mana/end) which comes from a mini event in AG (not even from a big named). To me this looks a bit underwhelming, especially when it takes the slot of a main loot.

A: As part of balancing the power between raid and non raid gear, we are moving augments away from raids and into single group content now and in the future. It's also unfair to compare those two particular augments, as they would both be used at the same time.

Q: Something has been bothering for quite a while. It is the disparity between augments for 1handers and those for 2handers.

A: Currently part of the penalty for using a 2h weapon is lower stats, including those from augments... It's possible that I might do something different for them in the future, but I'll have to think about it.

Q: The last time class only armor was put in was back in Anguish, I don't understand why you make the armor class for other plate classes the exact same as warriors, I believe the warriors armor class on warrior only armor items should have an extra 2-5 like it always had.

A: In the past, warriors got more AC on their armor, but they were also on the same AC mitigation table as other plate classes... That was changed so that now warriors get more mitigation than other classes, and they no longer get more AC on their armor.
