Lately, hybrids have been busy making suggestions for spells from their parent classes that they should get. And I'm not saying that legacy spells are a bad idea at all. Yet when you talk to most hybrids, they don't really even consider themselves a composite of their parents anymore. It seems to me that hybrids have each grown into their own roles, far apart from "warrior + whatever" (for knights/rangers).

One of the "fun" aspects of games such as WoW and EQ2 is that they have different builds you can follow and sub classing. Races and religion matter, and you have open choices. However, EverQuest was built on the old rigid paradigms of DnD 2.0, where x race can only be y class and worship z deity. There is also the problem of one build becoming super powerful, and maintaining those sub builds and adding an extra layer of complexity to the designer's job. With 16 classes, this would be a huge migraine

I have to say mine was Kunark. I've never been sure if it was because it was the most pertinent expansion when I started playing or not. I only know that the lore then and now still fascinates me and keeps me searching for more. I sympathized with the iksar race, grew to hate the sarnak, drolvarg, drachnids, was captivated by the main players (Venril, Firiona, etc.)......something I haven't felt the same passion for in any expansion since. Perhaps it was just the combination of these things but I felt caught up in the lore, like I was part of it. So what about the rest of you? What's your favorite expansion lorewise?
