Meet Lilbraen NoThinky

Server: Stromm

Guild: Eternal Journey
(A member of the Norrathian Council of Guilds)

Where in the real life world do you live?
Orange County, California, USA

How long have you played EQ?
I played a bit in 2000 via a college roomie's account. I got too hooked and had to call it quits. I started back up with the launch of Gates of Discord (GoD), I think.

What other MMOs have you played?
None, aside from demos.

What type of work do you do?
I work in education.

How long is your typical gaming session when playing EQ?
On weeknights I play 1.5-3 hours and on weekends up to 5 or 6 hours. However, I do not get to play every day.

What does a typical EQ day consist of for you?
Step 1: Sell off loot in inventory
Step 2: Stock up on throwing axes, potions
Step 3: Kidnap ranger, force buffs out of him/her
Step 4: Figure out if I'm needed anywhere, if anyone wants to accompany me somewhere, if I want to 'box, or if I need to get some tradeskills done.
Step 5: Do one of the above and likely die in game as a result. (Smithing is dangerous!)

What was the race and class of your very first character?
Erudite Enchanter

What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most?
Atari got me into gaming. Then Nintendo, Sega, etc. When I got to high school, the computer labs opened up the world of computer gaming with Warcraft, Starcraft, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, etc. I like games in which I can play for short bursts of time. FPSs, RTSs, and MMORPGs are great for that.

What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing EverQuest?
Reading, writing papers, teaching, exploring the world around me. However, I think I've seen everything Orange County has to offer.

What is your highest level in EQ?
85

What race and class is your main character?
Ogre Berserker

What do you like the most about the class you have chosen for your main character?
The cop-out insurance and clutch position

"Who ganked?!" -- "Me... sorry. Stupid Ogre Berserker!"
"Who broke mez?!" -- "Me... sorry. Stupid Ogre Berserker!"
"Ack! We need this thing dead NOW! --- "IT'S GO TIME!" -- "You're such a hero, Lilbraen!"

Does your main character worship a deity?
Yes, Rallos Zek.

How did you choose your main character's name?
My first main was very brain-intensive and was a go-to person for leadership or organization. I wanted a slight departure for that... so I made an idiot.

Which classes in EQ have you NOT played?
Paladin… they smell like cabbage.

What is your favorite expansion?
GoD if only for the raid progression and the mobs. LDoN for the effect it had on pick-up groups. Underfoot for getting my significant other back into the game. ;)

What is your favorite zone?
Tough! Hmm... I'll go with Ikkinz, Uqua, or Tacvi.

What is your favorite NPC?
The one whose death gets me my next level, AA, or weapon evolution. ;)

Which expansion do you like the least?
SoD, but not because of the common "it's too easy" reason. I really don't like that so much armor and so many tomes/spells are locked behind hard-to-raise faction or so many quests.

Which zone do you like the least?
Loping Plains. It's pretty, but it's also too big and laggy.

Which NPC do you like the least?
The Wayfarer Magi. You'd think they'd have discovered a way to port to the guild lobby by now.

What is the most platinum you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters?
Probably around 60kpp. I think it was a belt for the boxed shammy.

Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it?
Certain weapons with great graphics, I keep. Otherwise, I treat my bank like I treat my tiny apartment: "Do I need this? Does someone else? No? Into the trash!"

What do you like best about EverQuest?
Being able to interact with so many familiar people and groups on a personal level while sitting in the same spot.

What do you get out of playing EverQuest?
Money. For every character that dies to a decaying skeleton, 27 cents is deposited in my bank account. (Kidding!) I get cheap entertainment and mental reflex exercising. Sometimes work is such a grind that a typical EQ experience grind is "exciting". Aside from mental stimulation, though, it's really the personal relationships that form and then using the strength of those relationships to come together and complete some impressive feats of teamwork. That teamwork aspect, that "WE did it" feeling, means a lot to me.

Describe your best experience from playing EverQuest?
My best singular experience? Probably the first time my raid alliance beat Vishimtar. Everyone was dying, the warriors were all down, I stepped in to tank, hit Reckless, hit a hot potion, and called for heals. He died, I didn't.

Do you run or work for an EverQuest Fan Site?
Just a short time ago, I was given administrative privileges (responsibilities) at EverQuest's best community site: GoBerserker. It's really weird when I think about it. I can remember my first wide-eyed threads, having little understanding of the inner-workings of EverQuest.
